It was an exciting weekend.
There was a huge party at my house.
My husband and I got to eat together, and I was on the phone with my daughter for an hour.
I was excited, I was happy, and it was going really well.
At one point I decided I would try to use my iPhone to withdraw cash at the store.
That’s when the store security officer asked me for my credit card information.
“No, it’s not authorized.”
I said, “It’s okay.”
I asked, “Are you OK with that?”
The officer said, “Well, it is okay, but I can’t tell you how much you have to spend on your phone, so I’m not going to let you borrow my card.”
So, my phone was locked down.
I got a phone call from my bank, saying, “Hey, I’m having a problem.
Your account is locked.
Are you in, are you out?”
I said no.
It was like that for about an hour, until the police officer called me back.
When I finally got to my bank to get my money back, I told them that I had used my credit cards at the restaurant and my bank had said that it was unauthorized to do so.
The next day, I had to pay a fine.
As the news spread, I wrote about it.
But, it was my own fault.
Because I did not follow any of the steps outlined in the app, I wasn’t even aware of the security issues.
And when I asked for a refund from my card company, the store was able to say, “No, you don’t have a valid card.”
The store manager then told me that my card was “locked.”
I called Apple Pay and asked if it would allow me to withdraw funds.
Apple Pay confirmed that my credit was suspended, but they did not offer to refund the money.
So I had a bad experience and I’m going to write this article to help anyone else who might be in the same position.
What can you do to avoid being locked out?
The most important thing to remember is to only use your card for transactions you are legally authorized to make.
Be careful about what you are using your card to pay for.
Don’t use your phone for things that you know are illegal.
If you have a friend who has an Apple Pay card, they should be careful not to use that card for anything illegal.
Be aware of what’s happening at the cashier.
They might be taking a look at your phone.
If that happens, tell them you’re using your Apple Watch, or the camera, or anything that might be sensitive.
If you get a bad vibe when you talk to cashiers, ask them to check with the customer service department.
If you’re the one who is asking for the cash, you need to be careful about not letting them know you’re a customer.
Use your phone only for transactions that you are authorized to do, and you should be okay.
Even if you are not, make sure you are able to get your money back if you have questions.
In addition to checking your credit card statements, you can check your Apple account status.
Your Apple account will show you if you’ve made any transactions or payments.
And, you will get an email alert if you need any assistance.
You can use your Apple app to make purchases, but it is recommended that you have your credit cards locked and make sure to follow all of the instructions.
Also, make certain you have the Apple Pay app installed on your device.
